Theatre review: Operation Greenfield

A devised piece by Little Bulb Theatre, Operation Greenfield arrives at Soho Theatre with the story of four teenagers who start their own Christian folk rock band in hopes of winning their village's annual talent contest. Unfortunately there was no programme or cast list available so I have to be a bit vague but the performers put on a rather sweet, quirky show and all have a nice line in hilariously gormless expressions, as life takes them in directions they weren't expecting - mainly when their hormones start to kick in. It pokes fun in the gentlest possible way at their earnest attempts to tell the story of the Annunication through song and interpretative dance. It could perhaps do with having a bit of a tighter story, especially at the end, but the cast are talented (musically as well as their acting) and the show's fun, funny and kind of adorable.

Operation Greenfield is booking until the 4th of June at Soho Theatre.
