I've been transferring some of my VHS tapes onto DVD today (I know, really pulling the stops out to make my last holiday day exciting) and just now I was recording Beautiful Thing, the classic gay movie from 19961 and watching it as it recorded - I hadn't watched it for years. It was shot fairly locally, and although of course I remembered The Gloucester (the gay pub by Greenwich Park, now long-since closed) being the setting for a pivotal scene, I'd forgotten another local landmark: At the end of the film where Sandra gets her own pub, that scene's shot at what is now the Cutty Sark Tavern, where we have our Greenwich Coffee Posses. Next month (Dave isn't doing an August one) that'll make me enjoy it a tiny bit more.
On which note we have dave_rc's latest jaw-dropping statement from yesterday's Wimbledon posse, when someone made the mistake of suggesting fluffy little kittens are nice: "I prefer an old, bedraggled pussy." I'm sure he just says this stuff to get into the subject line of my blog posts.
1yes, triomakesmehot, I have, but don't get your hopes up, it's romantic rather than the more Queer as Folk brand of full-on stuff
