Yes, Jedward have survived another week, which now puts them in the top half of this year's X-Factor
finalists. Heh. Last night's elimination show was rather fun, as one of Simon's acts finally went home thanks to Dannii Minogue getting her own back and sending the vote to deadlock between Jamie Afro and Lloyd. Normally I'd have been praying for Lloyd to go, but it was especially funny to see Jamie go after going up against such a duff performance (and aka_kelly
: The reason I knew Louis was promising to chuck Jamie when he said before the sing-off that he'd keep the one who has potential isn't that I think Lloyd has it - simply that Louis' said many a time that Jamie has nowhere left to go so he was making it pretty clear he was going to stick the knife in.) It's just a shame Simon didn't lose one of the acts he actually gives two shits about, namely Danyl or Olly (more on him in a sec) but Jafro's a start.
Anyway, back to Jedward and their Saturday performance. I really, really wish I hadn't been spoiled about what they were doing, because if I'd been surprised by what they segue into after a couple of verses it would probably have been as funny as the talky bit in "Oops I Did It Again." It's still funny though. It's Queen week (which everyone figured was a strong week for Jafro - hah!) and Jedward are doing "Under Pressure." Yes, there's a strong start as they do a big entrance and Edward promptly trips over, but like I say, it gets better (and I'm not even counting the now-famous stage invasion by Calvin Harris with a pineapple on his head.)
Now Americans and other aliens may be wondering if the joke hasn't worn itself out by now, and technically yes, but to put it into context why such a shit-but-entertaining act is still on the telly every Saturday night, may I present Olly. He's never been in the bottom 2, and looks like a strong contender to win the whole thing. So next time someone asks me why Jedward are still considered funny, I'll reply by asking how, HOW
Olly's dancing can in any way be considered acceptable.
