I spotted my first elephant today - well, my first elephant in the wild:
Yeah, I'd forgotten about this charity artwork thing
as well. It seemed to get announced years ago and now has suddenly appeared (and will only be running for a couple of months before they all get taken down again - you'd think they could at least leave them up all summer so the tourists could get a look at them.) Anyway I didn't realise there was this one at Greenwich Market; I quite like it. It has peppers on it for some reason. Apparently there's two more somewhere in Greenwich so I'll have to look out for them, as well as the others around London, obviously.
I don't know if this is why Greenwich got a couple of elephants of its own, but later this month Greenwich Theatre has a show called Elephant
running. Sadly it doesn't appear to be a stage adaptation of the Gus Van Sant film of the same name, so I won't be going. Oh come on, someone
must be willing to stage Elephant: The Musical
? After Silence of the Lambs
we need another bad-taste musical. Songs could include "Just Another Ordinary Day," "Nope, Nothing Unusual Going On Here," "Actually This Is Getting Boring Now," "Shit, It's Some Gays With Guns," "Aaaaargh! Why Me?" and "Oh Let's Just All Blame Marilyn Manson." No? Well I'm putting the idea out there anyway.
