Book review: We Have Always Lived In The Castle

Shifty
Just a quick book review, another in the modern classics' "Chillers" week, Shirely Jackson's We Have Always Lived In The Castle. A creepy little story told from the point of view of a childlike 18-year-old girl living a secluded existence which is about to get a lot more secluded. It wasn't quite what I'd expected and I can't say it was one of my favourites from the series but it definitely had its moments. More about building atmosphere than telling a story, there's a twist that's not all that hard to guess but I'm glad I read it even if it's unlikely to be one I remember for a long time to come.
